Reasons for the decrease in water pump efficiency

Jan 19, 2024

1. Due to the erosion of water flow, the inner wall of the water pump flow channel and the water surface of the impeller become rough and uneven, and the friction coefficient of the flow channel in the water pump increases. In addition, the flow rate of water in the pump is very high, and the head loss increases. Hydraulic efficiency is reduced.
2. Due to reasons such as adding drugs or water quality before the pump, serious scale or corrosion occurs in the pump casing. Severe scale accumulation in the pump casing can increase the wall thickness of the pump casing by about 2 ram, and scale tumors will form on the inner wall of the water pump, which will reduce the volume of the pump body, reduce the pumping volume, make the flow channel rough, and increase the head loss. Both customer efficiency and hydraulic efficiency are reduced.
3. Due to casting defects, cavitation, abrasion, corrosion and chemical erosion caused by the water pump processing technology, cavities or cracks occur in the pump flow channel, and vortices are generated when the water flows, causing energy loss. Hydraulic efficiency is reduced.
4. Cavitation on the impeller surface. Since the back surface of the blade generates negative pressure during operation, when the pressure Pk < Pva, air pockets and honeycomb surfaces are generated, and the pump blade is cavitated under the action of electrochemical corrosion.
5. Volume loss and mechanical loss. As the pump is used for a long time, mechanical wear causes leakage and increases resistance, which reduces the volumetric efficiency and mechanical efficiency.
