In order to increase the service life of the diesel generator set, the set needs to be regularly maintained according to the standard. When using it, it is also necessary to follow the correct starting method. Next, let's take a look at the wrong ways to start a diesel generator set.
1: Start with the throttle
Do not add throttle when starting a diesel generator set. Generally, just put the throttle in the idle position. But many people slam the throttle before or during the start-up process in order to start the diesel generator set quickly. The harm of this practice is: waste of fuel.
Excess diesel will flush the cylinder wall, deteriorate the lubrication between the piston, piston ring and cylinder liner, and increase wear; excess oil flowing into the oil pan will dilute the engine oil and reduce the lubrication effect; excessive diesel in the cylinder will not be completely burned and form carbon deposits. After the diesel engine is started with a large throttle, the speed may increase very quickly, which will cause greater damage to the moving parts.
2: Strong cold trailer start
Diesel generators are forced to start trailers in a cold state and with high oil viscosity, which will increase the wear between the moving parts of the diesel engine, thereby reducing the service life of the diesel engine.
3. Not changing the engine oil and fuel according to the season
In cold weather, if the low-viscosity engine oil and fuel are not replaced in time, the generator will be difficult to start or cannot start at all. Even if the forced start is successful, it may cause immeasurable damage to the diesel generator.
4. Starting without water or suddenly adding boiling water
If there is no cooling water after the diesel generator is started, the temperature of the cylinder assembly, cylinder head and body will rise sharply. At this time, adding cooling water will cause the hot cylinder liner, cylinder head and other important parts to burst or deform due to sudden cold. However, if about 100 boiling water is suddenly added to the cold body before starting, it will also cause the cylinder head, body and cylinder liner and other parts to crack. Wait until the water temperature drops to 60-70 before adding.
5: Baking the oil pan with open flame
Breaking the oil pan with strong fire can easily cause partial deformation of the oil pan or deterioration of the engine oil in the oil pan. Therefore, the oil in the oil pan should be heated with a special heater (or steam), and at the same time, the oil shaft should be slowly rotated to allow the oil to be heated evenly so that all parts are lubricated.
