Diesel generator sets are generally divided into common generator sets, standby generator sets, emergency generator sets, and war-ready generator sets. They can be divided into basic diesel generator sets, automatic start diesel generator sets, and microcomputer automatic control diesel generator sets according to the degree of automation function.
(1) Common generator sets are units that need to operate all year round. They are generally located in areas far away from the power grid or near industrial and mining enterprises to meet the construction, production, and electricity needs of these places.
(2) Standby generator sets are temporary power generation devices set up to ensure the basic production and life of users when the mains power is cut off or other reasons interrupt the power supply. This generator set is in important power-consuming units such as industrial and mining enterprises, hospitals, hotels, airports, and radio stations where the main power supply is tight.
(3) Emergency generator sets are electrical equipment used to deal with sudden interruptions in the mains power supply that will cause major losses or personal accidents. Emergency generator sets are often set up to provide emergency power to this equipment, such as fire protection systems, evacuation lighting, elevators, control systems of automated production lines, and important communication systems in high-rise buildings. This type of generator set needs to be installed with a self-starting diesel generator set, and the degree of automation must be high.

According to the automation function.
(1) Basic diesel generator sets are more common and can generally be used as the main power supply or backup power supply.
(2) Automatic start diesel generator sets are based on basic diesel generator sets with an automatic control system added. It has the function of automatic start.
(3) Automatic control diesel generator sets are composed of diesel engines, three-phase brushless synchronous generators, automatic fuel supply devices, automatic oil supply devices, automatic cooling water supply devices, and automatic control cabinets, which can achieve unmanned operation.
