Introduction To The Differences in The Use Of Different Types Of Generator Sets.

Sep 28, 2024

Generator sets are used in various production and living occasions, providing great convenience for users. At present, generator sets can be classified on the market, roughly divided into two categories: closed cooling cycle generator sets and open cooling cycle generator sets. They have different characteristics, so there are still some differences in the use process.

Closed cooling cycle generator sets are mainly composed of diesel engines, AC synchronous generators, control panels and supporting devices consisting of common chassis, radiators, cooling fans, etc.

The structure of the open cooling cycle generator set is basically the same as that of the above-mentioned closed units. The main difference is that the open unit does not have a radiator and a cooling fan device, so the unit itself cannot complete the cooling cycle process independently. When using it, the user must set up a cooling water heat dissipation device by himself to meet the cooling water required for the diesel engine to work. The open cooling cycle is generally used in high-power generator sets.

The closed cooling cycle generator set is a diesel engine and a generator fixed on the same common chassis. The power output end of the diesel engine is directly connected to the generator rotor through an elastic sleeve pin coupling, and the diesel engine drives the generator to work. The free end of the diesel engine is equipped with a radiator and a cooling fan. The cooling fan is connected to the free end of the crankshaft through a fan transmission device, and the diesel engine drives the fan to operate, implementing forced cooling with cooling water. The radiator is connected to the internal cooling system of the diesel engine through the inlet and outlet pipes to form an independent closed-loop cooling system to provide the cooling water required when the diesel engine is working. Users do not need to set up a cooling water heat dissipation device separately.
