When the diesel generator set suffers from insufficient power during operation, the possible causes of this situation need to be promptly and carefully investigated. There are many reasons for insufficient power of diesel generator sets, such as insufficient fuel supply, blocked air filter, engine failure, internal problems of the generator, etc.
1. The overheating of the diesel generator set is related to the high ambient temperature: the temperature of the oil and cooling water of the diesel generator set rises abnormally, and the exhaust temperature also rises.
Treatment method: Check and repair the cooler and radiator, and remove scale. Confirm that the pipe size is appropriate. If the ambient temperature is too high, ventilation needs to be enhanced and temporary cooling measures need to be added.
2. There is a failure in the fuel system: the accelerator is kept pressed but the power or speed of the diesel generator set still does not increase.
Approach:
1) Ways to clear air intrusion or clogging problems in fuel lines and fuel filters include removing the air from the fuel system or replacing the filter element of the fuel filter.
2) If insufficient fuel supply from the fuel injection pump occurs, the following troubleshooting measures can be taken: Check and repair or replace parts.
If the atomization effect of the engine's fuel injector is not ideal or the fuel injection pressure is too low, the following measures can be taken to eliminate the problem: observe the fuel injection effect, adjust the fuel injection pressure, and check the parts of the fuel injector, which may need to be replaced.
3. Failure of the air intake and exhaust system: Compared with normal conditions, the exhaust temperature of the diesel generator set increases and the color of the exhaust smoke becomes worse. Ways to deal with air filter clogging problems include: cleaning the filter element or removing dust from the paper filter element, and replacing it if necessary; at the same time, check whether the engine oil level is sufficient.
Solution:
1) Clean the carbon deposits in the exhaust pipe.
2) Reinstall the exhaust pipe. The number of elbows should not exceed three, and ensure that the exhaust section is large enough.
4. Improper injection advance angle or improper adjustment of intake and exhaust phases: performance decreases at different speeds.
Solution: Check whether the two screws at the fuel injection pump drive shaft are loose, correct the injection advance angle and then tighten them. If necessary, check the valve timing and valve clearance.
5. Symptoms of turbocharger failure: reduced speed; reduced intake pressure; gas leakage or abnormal sound, etc.
Solution:
1) When the bearings of the supercharger are worn, causing friction problems with the rotor, check and replace the bearings.
2) Pernod and turbine air intake ducts may be affected by dirt, blockage or air leakage. Solutions include cleaning the intake pipe, cleaning the casing and impeller, and tightening the nuts and clamps on the connecting surfaces.
6. Cylinder head component failure manifests as a decrease in power and poor performance of the diesel generator set, and may even include gas leakage, black smoke from the intake pipe, and abnormal knocking sounds.
1) There is air leakage at the connection between the cylinder head and the diesel generator set. When shifting gears, you can feel airflow coming out of the gasket: it may be that the large bolts and nuts on the cylinder head are loose, or the gasket is damaged. .
Solution: Tighten large bolts and nuts according to the specified torque value, or replace the cylinder head gasket, and renovate the joint surface if necessary.
2) There is air leakage problem in the intake valve and exhaust valve.
Solution: Remove and inspect the intake valve and exhaust valve, and trim the mating surfaces of the valve and valve seat.
3) Method to repair valve spring: replace damaged spring
4) The solution to incorrect valve clearance is to readjust the valve clearance to the specified value.
5) The injector hole is leaking or the steel gasket is damaged; the piston ring is stuck and clamped, resulting in insufficient cylinder pressure. Solution: Disassemble the device for maintenance inspection. Clean and replace damaged accessories.
7. The crank journal and connecting rod bearing surface are meshed, which is manifested by abnormal sound and reduced engine oil pressure. The steps to troubleshoot are: remove the side cover of the diesel generator set, check the lateral clearance of the connecting rod, and observe whether the big end of the connecting rod can move in the front and rear directions. If it cannot move, it indicates seizure and requires crankshaft journal grinding and connecting rod bearing replacement.
