Six Major Causes Of Self-priming Sewage Pump Failure.

Mar 24, 2024

The self-priming sewage pump adopts an axial return external mixing design. Through the pump body and impeller flow channel, it can be like a general self-priming clean water pump without installing a bottom valve and water diversion. It can also suck and discharge liquids containing large solid particles and long fiber impurities. . Self-priming sewage pumps can be widely used in municipal sewage projects, river pond aquaculture, light industry, paper industry, textile industry, food manufacturing industry, chemical industry, etc. It is an ideal impurity pump for chemical media such as fiber, slurry, and mixed suspension.
Self-priming sewage pumps can also be used to discharge sewage, wastewater, rainwater and urban domestic water containing solid particles or various long fibers.

Next, let's take a look at the 6 reasons why self-priming sewage pumps may fail:

1. Wrong direction of motor rotation
Before use, you should confirm whether the direction of motor rotation is correct. Although reverse rotation can discharge water, the water output is small and the current is large. Long-term reverse rotation will cause irreversible damage to the motor windings.

2. No leakage protector installed
The leakage protector will cut off the power supply of the submersible pump when the leakage value is greater than the operating current value of the leakage protector to ensure equipment safety and personal safety and avoid unnecessary waste of electrical energy.

3. Turn on the machine when the power supply is abnormal

The difference between the power supply voltage and the rated voltage should not exceed 10%. If the voltage is too high or too low, the temperature of the equipment will rise. If the power is turned on when the power supply is abnormal, the service life will be shortened or even the equipment will be burned.

4. Long-term dehydration operation
The self-priming sewage pump uses water as its cooling source. Long-term dehydration may cause the motor to overheat and burn out.

5. Frequent power on and off
Frequent starting of the self-priming sewage pump will affect its service life. Because the equipment will generate backflow when it stops, if it is turned on immediately, the motor load will start, causing the starting current to be too large and burning the windings.

6. No maintenance is usually carried out
If the submersible pump is not used continuously after being put into the water, it will rust and cannot be started. When not in use for a long time, it is best not to immerse it in water for a long time. It should be placed in clean water and powered on for a few minutes to clean the mud inside and outside the pump, then lift it out of the water and dry it for a major inspection.
