During the use of diesel generator sets, some scale will be generated in the water tank of the diesel engine. If there is too much scale in the water tank of the diesel generator, debris will clog the water tank, and it is easy to ignite incorrectly, which will cause the generator to overheat and the thermal conductivity to decrease, directly affecting the heat dissipation effect and thus reducing the service life of the diesel generator set. Therefore, we should clean the scale inside the water tank in time to ensure the normal operation of the generator set.
During the use of the cooling system of the diesel generator set, there will be a certain loss of coolant, and water needs to be added to the cooling system in time. Some users do not add coolant or distilled water, but directly add hard water. As a result, the calcium and magnesium ions in the hard water can easily form scale with the inorganic salt components in the ordinary coolant. The silica gel scale mainly comes from the silicate in the inorganic coolant. The metal scale is mainly iron scale and solder scale. The former is mainly formed by the protective film generated by the reaction of inorganic salts in ordinary inorganic coolants with iron metal on the cylinder body due to consumption and shedding, while the latter is a fluffy precipitate formed by the strong oxidizing inorganic salt corrosion inhibitor aggravating the "blooming" of solder. Therefore, if the cooling system needs to be filled with water, you cannot add tap water directly but need to use coolant or distilled water.

There are two ways to clean scale after it is generated:
1. Use acid and alkali cleaning agent to remove it.
First, use 30 kg of water, 2.5 kg of caustic soda, and 0.6 kg of kerosene to make a cleaning solution and pour it into the water tank. Then start the diesel engine, run it at medium speed for about 10 minutes and then turn it off. After 10 to 12 hours, restart the diesel engine, run it at medium speed for about 10 minutes and turn it off, and release the cleaning solution. After adding clean cooling water, start the diesel engine and run it at medium speed to clean it by itself. Repeat this 2 to 3 times to completely remove the scale.
2. Rinse with pressurized water.
Drain the cooling water from the cooling water tank, remove the radiator inlet and outlet pipes, cylinder head outlet pipe, and thermostat, then reinstall the cylinder outlet pipe, and use clean water with a pressure not exceeding 3kgf/cm³ to pour in from the cylinder head outlet pipe to flush the water jacket and remove the scale until the water flowing out of the water pump is not turbid, and flush water into the radiator outlet pipe to remove scale until the water flowing out of the water inlet is not turbid.
