How To Deal With The Problem Of Water Inflow Into The Diesel Generator Set?

Sep 23, 2024

When you find that the diesel generator set has water inflow, you should stop using it immediately and cut off the power supply. This is very important because continued use may cause more serious damage. Next, you can take the following steps to deal with the water inflow problem:
1. Check the source of water inflow: First, you need to determine the cause and source of the water inflow. It may be due to rainwater seeping into the inside of the unit, or because the unit is placed in a low-lying area and causes water accumulation. Check whether the drainage system around the unit is functioning properly and make sure there are no leaks or damage.
2. Remove water accumulation: If you find water accumulation around the unit, you need to remove it in time. Use a water pump or other suitable tools to drain the accumulated water. Make sure the drainage system around the unit is unobstructed to prevent water accumulation again.
3. Dry the unit: Once the accumulated water is removed, you need to thoroughly dry the inside and outside of the unit as soon as possible. Use a desiccant, fan or other appropriate tools to speed up the drying process. Make sure that the electrical components and connectors inside the unit are completely dry to avoid electrical failures.
4. Check for damage: After drying the unit, you need to carefully check all parts of the unit for any damage. Pay special attention to whether the electrical components, wiring and connectors are affected by water. If any damage is found, it should be repaired or replaced in time.
5. Perform maintenance: Once the unit is completely dry and no damage is found, you can restart the unit. Before restarting, it is recommended to perform a comprehensive maintenance, including replacing the oil filter, air filter and fuel filter. Make sure that all parts of the unit are in good working condition.
