Marine generator sets are divided into main engines and auxiliary engines, and in most cases, multiple engines are required to be connected in parallel. Land-based generator sets are relatively simple in structure. Marine generator sets are used in inland rivers or on the ocean, so diesel generator sets and supporting radiators must meet the marine regulations before they can be used, otherwise they will cause safety hazards and usage problems.
Generally, the following four environmental factors will be considered when manufacturing marine diesel generator sets and supporting radiators:
1. Humidity will have a great impact on the damage to the insulation of the generator winding and other accessories, especially prone to rust.
2. The vibration and turbulence of the hull have a great impact on the overall performance of the unit, especially the radiator structure.
3. Salt-alkali corrosion in the marine environment (because seawater is alkaline) seriously corrodes the unit windings and radiator core.
4. The marine environment causes inconvenience in maintenance.
Land-based diesel generator sets and supporting radiators are not specifically designed for the above four aspects. The above four points need to be considered for marine diesel power generation, so a three-waterproof box must be selected. Otherwise, once the unit is used, it will inevitably cause early corrosion and perforation, which will be basically impossible to repair and difficult to replace.
