The continuous power of diesel generator sets is also called the main power or long-term power. In China, continuous power is generally used to identify diesel generator sets, while internationally, standby power, also known as maximum power, is used to identify diesel generator sets. In the market, irresponsible generator manufacturers often use maximum power as continuous power to introduce and sell units, causing many users to misunderstand these two concepts.
In our country, diesel generator sets are rated with continuous power. The maximum power that a generator set can use continuously within 24 hours is called continuous power. During a certain period of time, the standard is that the unit can be overloaded by 10% on the basis of continuous power for 1 hour within every 12 hours. The unit power at this time is what we usually call the maximum power, that is, the standby power. That is to say, if you buy a 400kw main unit, then you can run it at 440kw for 1 hour within 12 hours. If you buy a 400kw standby unit, if you do not overload it and usually run it at 400kw, in fact, the unit has been running in an overloaded state (because the actual rated power of the unit is only 364KW), which is very unfavorable to the unit, and will shorten the life of the unit and increase the failure rate.
