Under normal circumstances, the diesel generator set will naturally discharge smoke or a small amount of steam to the outside during operation. However, if a fault occurs, the diesel generator set will emit abnormal smoke or the smoke color does not match the normal color. Or sometimes the unit may experience some abnormal white steam emission, which is generally caused by cylinder leakage and low ambient temperature. In addition, the following reasons may also cause white steam to emit at the oil filling inlet of the diesel generator set.
1. Cooling water enters the diesel generator oil or the oil deteriorates;
2. There are blisters on the inner wall of the cylinder liner of the unit or the cylinder liner is broken;
3. The fuel injector has poor atomization, oil dripping, and air leakage from the cylinder;
4. The injection pressure is too low and the cylinder is leaking;
5. The ambient temperature is too low and the temperature difference is too large;
6. Cylinder compression force is too low;
7. The engine oil temperature is high.

1. After starting the diesel generator set, observe the exhaust pipe smoke. After 5 minutes, the exhaust smoke will be light gray, and a small amount of white steam will emerge from the oil filling port;
2. Check the oil quality of the engine oil and find no deterioration;
3. Use the single-cylinder oil cut-off method to check the working conditions of the four cylinders. It was found that after the third cylinder was cut off, the white vapor at the oil port decreased;
4. After shutting down, disassemble the injector and perform a hydraulic test on the injector. The test results are considered normal, which indicates that the fault may occur in the combustion chamber or cylinder liner;
5. Drain the cooling water, disassemble the cylinder head, and inspect the cylinder head and cylinder gasket. No abnormality was found;
6. Rotate the crankshaft so that the piston of the third cylinder is at the bottom dead center. During the inspection, it was found that there was a black spot with a diameter of about 1mm on the inner wall of the cylinder liner about 4cm away from the bottom dead center;
7. Use the cylinder liner tensioner to take out the cylinder liner and find that there is a blister in the cylinder liner. After replacing the cylinder liner, assemble the piston connecting rod assembly, cylinder head and rocker wall seat, and then adjust the valve clearance;
8. After the diesel generator is assembled, fill the water tank of the diesel generator with water, then start the diesel generator to about 1000r/min and run it for 10 minutes. No white steam is observed at the oil filling port.
