Some Symptoms Of Diesel Generator Failure.

Mar 29, 2024

When users use diesel generator sets, the last thing they want to do is malfunction. If the diesel generator set fails, it will cause varying degrees of damage to the entire machine, reduce production efficiency, delay the production process, and even threaten the personal safety of the staff. However, before the diesel generator set fails, there will often be certain abnormalities. Users can evaluate the status of the diesel generator set based on its abnormal performance and prevent larger failures.
1. Sticky cylinder. Cylinder sticking usually occurs when a diesel engine is severely short of water. Before the cylinder sticks, the engine is unable to operate and the water temperature gauge indicates more than 100°C. If a few drops of cold water are dropped on the engine body, there will be a "hissing" sound and white smoke will appear. The water drops quickly. Transpiration. At this time, the engine should be allowed to operate at low speed or idle speed to reduce the unit temperature. If the engine is turned off immediately, it will cause the piston and cylinder liner to stick.
2. Burn tiles. During the operation of the diesel engine, the speed suddenly drops, the load increases, the engine emits black smoke, the oil pressure drops, and a "chirping" dry friction sound is emitted in the crankcase, which is a precursor to tile burning. When encountering this situation, you should stop the engine immediately. You will further increase the wear of the bearing bush, the scratches on the journal surface will expand rapidly, the bearing bush and the journal will soon bond and lock, and the engine will stall.
3. The valve is dropped from the cylinder. The valve entering the cylinder is usually caused by a broken valve stem, broken valve spring, cracked valve spring seat, falling valve lock clip, etc. When the cylinder head makes a "dang-dang" knocking sound (the piston hits the valve), a "chuck" friction sound (the piston hits the valve), or is accompanied by other abnormal sounds, and the engine operates unstable, it is often a precursor to valve drop. At this time, you should stop the car immediately, otherwise the piston, cylinder head and cylinder liner will be damaged, or even the connecting rod will be bent, the engine body will be broken, and the crankshaft will be broken.

4. Broken shaft. When a hidden crack occurs at the journal shoulder of the diesel engine crankshaft due to fatigue, as the crack expands and intensifies, a dull knocking sound is emitted in the engine crankcase. The knocking sound increases when the speed changes, and the engine emits black smoke, and then knocks. The sound gradually increased, the engine crankshaft cracked, and then stalled.
5. Pound the vat. In addition to cylinder damage caused by the valve falling into the cylinder, it is mostly caused by loosening of the connecting rod bolts. A "click-click" knocking sound can be heard in the crankcase. The knocking sound changes from small to loud, which will cause the final connecting rod bolt of the engine to completely fall or break, and the connecting rod and bearing cap will be thrown out, breaking the body and related parts.
6. Flywheel. When there are hidden cracks in the flywheel, a scratchy sound will be made when struck with a hammer. When the engine is running, the flywheel will make a knocking sound, and the sound will increase when the speed changes. If the machine is not stopped for inspection at this time, it may easily lead to vicious accidents such as the flywheel suddenly breaking and fragments flying out and injuring people.
