What Should I Do If The Diesel Engine Speed Is Unstable After Starting?

May 11, 2024

The diesel engine starts normally, but the speed is unstable during operation. The reasons for the shutdown failure are as follows:
1. Air enters the oil supply pipe
2. Improper adjustment of gain or stability of speed control board
3. The opening of the speed control lever is too large

What to do after the above diesel engine failures occur:
1. Check the oil supply pipeline of the diesel engine, and deal with the parts with air leakage to prevent air from entering the oil supply pipeline.
2. Reset the gain and stability adjustment potentiometers on the diesel engine speed control board:
①In the no-load state, ensure that the engine speed reaches stability by increasing or decreasing the gain (GAIN) value;
② Turn on the main circuit breaker with about 1/4 of the rated load;
③Slowly turn the GAIN potentiometer clockwise until the engine becomes unstable;
④Slowly turn the gain (GAIN) potentiometer counterclockwise until a stable speed is reached;
⑤Turn the potentiometer 1/2 more in the counterclockwise direction.
3. According to the value of overspeed or low speed, appropriately reduce or increase the opening of the speed control tie rod before starting the engine, then start the engine, and then appropriately adjust the opening of the tie rod according to the engine speed until the specified speed is reached.
