What Should I Do If The Diesel Engine Water Pump Cannot Pump Water?

Jul 02, 2024

The emergence of diesel engine water pumps provides us with a variety of conveniences. When using them, we will also encounter various problems. The most common problem is that water cannot be pumped. Why does this happen? We must first understand the reasons for not being able to pump water, and then we can solve it better.

The main reasons why the diesel engine water pump cannot pump water are as follows:

1. The pipeline is not sealed.

The diesel engine water pump pipeline is not sealed, and there is a leak, which will cause the diesel engine water pump to not self-prime. A few more rounds of raw tape should be wrapped at the junction of the water inlet pipe and the water pump to increase the sealing of the machine. Inspection method within the allowable suction range of the diesel engine water pump: If the water pump has not been sucked up for 4-5 minutes after starting, please put your ear close to the suspected leaking place of the inlet pipe to listen for the sound of suction, or apply white latex to the suspected leaking place for repair.

2. No guide water is added.
If the diesel engine water pump does not add guide water before working, it will cause the pump to fail to pump water, so fill the guide water before pumping water.

3. The diesel engine self-priming pump itself is not sealed.
If there is a problem with the mechanical seal of the diesel engine water pump, the diesel engine self-priming pump will not be self-priming. You only need to replace the mechanical seal.

4. The head of the diesel engine self-priming pump is exceeded.
The installation position of the diesel engine water pump is too high and the water inlet is too low, causing the suction range to exceed the tolerance of the diesel engine self-priming pump, resulting in no self-priming. Lowering the installation position of the pump can solve the problem.

5. The linkage shaft of the diesel engine self-priming pump is stuck.
The linkage shaft of the diesel engine self-priming pump is stuck, causing the impeller to be unable to rotate normally and unable to form self-priming, resulting in no self-priming. Just check and adjust the linkage shaft to solve it.

6. The inlet and outlet of the diesel engine self-priming pump are installed in reverse.
During installation, if there is a basic error, the inlet and outlet are installed in reverse, resulting in no self-priming. The solution is to remove it and reinstall it.

7. The pump housing of the diesel engine self-priming pump is leaking.
Sand holes appear in the pump housing of the diesel engine self-priming pump during production, resulting in no self-priming. The solution is to check the pump casing and plug the sand holes.

8. There is no liquid storage or insufficient liquid storage in the diesel engine self-priming pump body, just add enough.

9. The suction stroke is too high or the suction pipeline is too long. It is necessary to reduce the suction stroke or shorten the pipeline.

10. The three-phase motor wiring is reversed. Interchange two of the phases.

11. The impeller is damaged or worn. Replace a new impeller.

12. The mechanical seal leaks too much. Repair or replace the mechanical seal of the diesel engine self-priming pump.

13. The reflux hole of the diesel engine self-priming pump is blocked, resulting in the inability to separate the steam and water. It needs to be checked and cleaned.

14. The voltage is too low. Adjust the voltage of the diesel engine self-priming pump.

15. The outlet pipeline is not installed correctly. There are too many elbows. There are too many N-shaped pipelines. It is recommended to install an automatic exhaust valve at the seat height.

16. The filter screen inside the pump body or the inlet pipeline is blocked by debris and stones. Check and clean the blockage.
